Low prices, plainly explained

Cheap Minecraft hosting often means a tiny amount of memory or hardware that's packed too full. We'd rather keep it simple: you choose how much memory you need and pay for that, with 50 GB of storage included on every server.

Our cheapest option is Budget, on Intel Xeon hardware, from $4.99 a month. It's on pre-order right now, so you can order today and your server is set up as soon as the hardware launches. If you want to play today, Premium runs on AMD Ryzen 7950X and starts at $5.99 a month.

How to keep a Minecraft server cheap

Memory is the biggest part of the price, so the best way to save is to pick the right amount rather than the most. A few habits help a small server go further:

  • Run Paper instead of vanilla. It plays the same game far more efficiently, so you need less memory.
  • Lower view-distance and simulation-distance in server.properties a little.
  • Pre-generate your world with a plugin such as Chunky, so new terrain isn't created while people play.
  • Skip mods you don't need. Modpacks are the quickest way to need a bigger server.
  • Pay quarterly or annually. Longer terms save 5% or 10% on everything.

Our Minecraft setup guide covers these settings in more detail.

02

How much RAM do I actually need?

For a cheap server, sizing right matters more than anything. As a rough guide:

  • 2 GB: vanilla or Paper for you and a few friends.
  • 4 GB: a growing survival server with a handful of plugins.
  • 6 to 8 GB: a busy plugin server or a small modpack.
  • 12 GB and up: big modpacks. Our modded Minecraft hosting page covers sizing packs.

Not sure? Start small. You can upgrade from your control panel whenever you need to, and you only pay the difference for the rest of your billing period. Our post on how much RAM a Minecraft server needs goes deeper.

03

Budget or Premium?

Both come with the same game panel and the same features. The difference is the hardware underneath.

Budget uses Intel Xeon CPUs with DDR4 memory and SSD storage. It's great value for a small server with friends. It's on pre-order, so your server is set up when that hardware launches.

Premium uses AMD Ryzen 7950X CPUs with DDR5 memory and NVMe storage. Minecraft's main game loop runs mostly on one thread, so faster cores help busy servers and modpacks stay smooth. It's available now and set up automatically after payment.

04

What you get on every server

A low price doesn't mean going without the basics. Every Minecraft server includes:

  • Unlimited player slots. Memory is the only limit.
  • Daily backups, plus your own backups whenever you like.
  • Always-on DDoS protection.
  • Full file access in our game panel.
  • A choice of Salt Lake City or Newcastle, with Dallas on pre-order.
  • Support from real people 24/7, and a 24-hour money-back guarantee on new orders.
