A modern take on QBCore, ready when you are

Qbox started life as a fork of QBCore and has grown into its own framework. It is built on ox_lib and other Overextended resources such as oxmysql, and it keeps compatibility with many QBCore scripts, so you are not starting from an empty library.

Our FiveM servers come with txAdmin already installed and free MySQL databases you create in our game panel, which covers what Qbox needs before anything else. Pick Qbox in our server builder to get a size suggested for it, then run the recipe once your server is ready.

01

Installing Qbox with txAdmin

Qbox is installed through txAdmin with the Qbox recipe, which downloads the framework and its dependencies, creates the database tables and writes your server.cfg. Depending on your txAdmin version, Qbox may be listed under Popular Recipes. If it is not, choose the remote URL option and paste the recipe link from the Qbox documentation.

  1. 1Register a free server licence key on the Cfx.re portal and keep it somewhere safe.
  2. 2Open the Databases tab for your server in our game panel and create a MySQL database. Note down the host, port, name, username and password.
  3. 3Start the server and open the txAdmin address shown in the console. Enter the one-time PIN and link your Cfx.re account.
  4. 4Choose the Qbox recipe, then paste in your licence key and database details when asked.
  5. 5Let the recipe finish, then start the server from txAdmin and watch the live console as the resources load.

Qbox expects a recent FiveM artefact. Artefacts update automatically on our servers, so leave that on unless a script needs an older build. The full txAdmin walkthrough is in our FiveM setup guide.

02

Running QBCore scripts on Qbox

Qbox keeps a compatibility layer for QBCore, so many scripts written for QBCore run without changes. Not all of them do, especially ones that replace core systems such as the inventory, or that lean on QBCore's internals. Check each script's page for Qbox support, and test new scripts on a backup or a quiet server before your players see them.

Scripts built on ox_lib and the other Overextended resources tend to fit in naturally, since Qbox is built around them.

03

Which size suits a Qbox server?

Qbox itself is not the heavy part. Memory goes on what you add on top: jobs, MLOs, vehicle packs, phones and the scripts that tie them together.

  • 2 to 4 GB: building and testing your Qbox setup before you open the doors.
  • 6 GB: our suggested starting size for an active Qbox city.
  • 8 GB and up: large, established cities with lots of custom content and resources.

You can upgrade at any time. FiveM leans on single-thread speed, so busy cities notice Premium's Ryzen 7950X the most. Our post on how much RAM a FiveM server needs goes into more detail.

04

Moving from QBCore to Qbox

Because Qbox grew out of QBCore, moving across is far easier than switching from ESX, but it is still a migration. The Qbox documentation has guidance on bringing a QBCore server over, including which resources to swap.

Take a full backup of your files and database first, and try the move on a copy before your live server. If you are moving from another host at the same time, our guide to moving a game server covers the steps, and our team can help if you open a ticket.

No. Qbox began as a fork of QBCore and is now its own framework, built on ox_lib. It keeps compatibility with many QBCore scripts, but it is developed separately.

Through txAdmin, which is pre-installed on every FiveM server. Run the Qbox recipe, add your Cfx.re licence key and database details, and it sets up the framework for you. You can also upload your own Qbox build over SFTP.

Many will, thanks to Qbox's QBCore compatibility. Scripts that replace core systems or rely on QBCore internals may need changes, so check for Qbox support and test them first.

Yes, MySQL databases are free with every FiveM server. Create one from the Databases tab in our game panel before you run the recipe.

Premium runs on AMD Ryzen 7950X and is available now. Budget runs on Intel Xeon and is on pre-order, so it is set up when that hardware launches. FiveM leans on single-thread speed, so Premium is the better pick for a busy city.

Yes, new orders can be refunded within the first 24 hours. Renewals aren't refundable.
